An active membership can be paused at any time by staff. It's possible to have the pause take effect immediately or scheduled the pause to begin at a later date. You must also specify when the membership will automatically resume.

Whilst a membership is paused, members will not get charged. If you're using the automated access control, they will also not have access to the gym.

Pause a Membership

To pause an active membership for a member:

  1. Go to the member's profile (e.g. by searching for them).

  2. Select the Membership tab.

  3. For the currently active membership, select Pause.

  4. Choose the Pause Date date, when the membership will be paused from.

  5. Choose the Automatic Resume Date, when the membership will automatically begin again.

  6. Select Confirm.

Understand How Pause Dates Work

When pausing a membership, the pause duration must match the billing cycle of that membership.

If the membership is billed weekly, you can only resume the membership in one or more week-long increments from the pause start date. For example, if you pause the membership starting on June 1st, you can resume it on June 8th, June 15th, and so on.

Similarly, monthly memberships can only resume in one or more month-long increments. For instance, if you pause a monthly membership starting on June 1st, you can resume it on July 1st, August 1st, etc.

Aligning pause durations with billing cycles ensures that the billing remains consistent and predictable. This helps both the gym and the member to keep track of payments and avoid confusion over partial payments.

Understand How Credits and Class and Appointment Bookings Are Affected by a Paused Membership

When you pause a membership for a member who has an active credit pack included in their membership, any unspent credits will become inactive until the membership is resumed again. This means the member will not be able to use those credits to book any classes or appointments until the membership resumes.

If a member already booked a class or appointment before the membership pauses, that booking will still exist and they will still be able to attend the class or appointment. If you want to, you can manually cancel their class and appointment bookings.

Find Paused & Resuming Memberships

There are 3 reports that give you more insight into memberships that are paused or resuming:

  • Memberships Pausing: List of all subscriptions that are pausing within the specified date period.

  • Memberships Resuming: List of all subscriptions that are resuming within the specified date period.

  • Paused Memberships: List of all memberships in a paused status. Does not include memberships that are scheduled to be paused.

To find these reports, head to Reports > Memberships, find the relevant report and select View Report. You can select any of the members' names within these reports to go to their profiles.

You can also find a list of all currently paused memberships in the Users list by following these steps:

  1. Select Users in the left-hand navigation

  2. Select the Membership Status filter and choose Paused
