If you're having issues accessing your gym with your phone, follow these straightforward steps to resolve the issue.

1. Check the Access Screen

The Access screen in the app will display an error message if there's a problem with your gym access. This error message can provide guidance about how to fix the issue.

You can check this like so:

  1. Open the app.

  2. Select the Profile tab (in the bottom left of the screen).

  3. Select Access.

  4. Check for an error message and, if there is one, follow the guidance.

2. Update the App

If an update is available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, please install it. This could resolve access issues.

Once you've checked for an update on the App Store or Play Store, please also follow the steps below to check for additional updates:

  1. Open the Gymflow app.

  2. Go to the Profile page (in the bottom right).

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap the version number (e.g. 'Version: 1.26.30').

3. Check App Permissions

The app needs the correct permissions access in order to securely unlock the door at your gym. If some of the permissions have been disabled, this may mean you can't access the gym until you enable them.

Follow the instructions below to make sure all of the necessary permissions are enabled.

iOS

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Go to Privacy & Security.

  3. Select Bluetooth.

    1. Make sure Bluetooth is on for the Gymflow app or your gym's app.

  4. Select Location Services.

    1. Verify that the location services switch is on at the top of the screen.

    2. Select the Gymflow app or your gym's app.

    3. Set the Allow Location Access to Always.

If you set your location permission to be 'while using the app' the app, you will still be able to unlock the doors at your gym. However you will first need to unlock your phone, open the Gymflow app and then wait for the app to connect to the reader.

We recommend setting your permission to 'always'. This way you will be able to unlock the door by tapping your iPhone to the reader, without having to unlock it or open the app (provided your gym has enabled this feature).

Android

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap on Apps.

  3. Select the Gymflow app or your gym's app.

  4. Tap on Permission.

  5. Tap on Bluetooth.

    1. Make sure Bluetooth is on for the Gymflow app or your gym's app.

  6. Tap on Location.

    1. Under Location services for this app, select Allow only when using the app.

    2. Enable the Use precise location toggle.

4. Make Sure You Have an Active Membership

In order to access the gym, you will need to have an active membership that includes gym access.

You can check your membership status by going to the Profile tab in the bottom right and then Membership. Make sure that the membership is marked as Active.

You can also ask a staff member at the gym to confirm that the particular membership you have has been enabled for gym access. Gym staff choose which memberships have access and which do not.
